Tanzania has a very diverse culture, ranging from the dominant Muslim Culture on the coast and old slave trade routes, to the nomadic culture of the Masai.

In the centre of Tanzania are the hunter gatherer tribes of the Hazabe and Hadza, and the traditional leather wearing herders - the Barabaig. In the south are the Makonde people, famous for their wood carvings. The business like Chagga from Kilimanjaro are the dominant tribe in commerce and government.

When travelling to the different locations within Tanzania, you will almost always encounter a village tour in your area, where you will be taken on a crash course of what the culture is like in that area.

These trips are very educational, and an interesting way to compare how your culture differs from that of the locals.

Wild Things can also take you far from the tourist trail to remote villages for a let touristy experience and see people live their lives the way they do.

03 :days mount Meru climbing Meru is a great preparation hike for climbing Kilimanjaro, or a spectacular trek for those not compelled to do Kilimanjaro. You will hike past wildlife, the landscape is spectacular, and sunrise on the summit has Kilimanjaro as the backdrop. While it can be done in only 4 days, it is not an easy peak to summit. To reach the top (almost 15,000 feet), there is some scrambling on rocks in the dark and at high altitude. You should be prepared for at l east 10 hours of hiking on summit day. For an easier hike, you can climb just to Rhino Point for sunrise overlooking Kilimanjaro, and then descend. Mt. Meru is in Arusha National Park. In Arusha National Park all hikers must be accompanied by an armed ranger. This ranger is employed directly by the national park. The Selous is Africa’s largest game reserve, a wilderness area bigger than Denmark or Switzerland. The park covers more than 5% of Tanzania’s total land area. Selous is still an uninhabited, untamed slice of ‘Old Africa’. In 1982 the Reserve’s unique ecosystem was recognized internationally and the area designated a World Heritage Site by the United Nations.
